BackgroundMaternal mortality is a global health problem. Most maternal deaths occur due to complications that arise in intra-partum and postpartum periods, mainly post-partum haemorrhage immediately after delivery.ObjectiveThis study aimed assess determinants of institutional delivery service utilization among mothers who gave birth within 1 year before this study, North-western Ethiopia.MethodsA community-based cross-sectional was conducted the last 12 months prior from January 1-30/2016. A multistage sampling technique used select subjects. Logistic regression identify factors associated with outcome variable.ResultsThe revealed 61.5% delivered facilities. Institutional significantly affected by; Residence (AOR = 3.66, 95% CI: 1.27, 10.56), Travelling time 2.77, 1.34, 5.75), Parity which being para one 6.79, Cl: 2.97, 15.54) two four 2.42, 1.31, 4.47) Antenatal care visit 6.37, 3.12, 10.52).ConclusionDespite there an improvement utilization, still it needs strong effort sustain meet required level skilled attendant 100%. Ambulance accessibility booking any pregnant mother for antenatal services are recommended by authors have more than above utilization.
